Inside Education Society of Alberta

2023 Finalist: Community Intiatives

Finalist: Inside Education Society of Alberta (Kathryn Wagner, Program Director)

Initiative: Cultivate Youth Agriculture Leadership Summit – Agriculture Innovation for the Next Generation

Kathryn Wagner leads the program team at Inside Education, Alberta’s longest-lived energy, environmental and natural resources education not-for-profit organization. Since its inception in 1985, generations of Alberta students and teachers have experienced firsthand the science, technology and innovations related to environmental sustainability alongside sustainable natural resources development.

Working with Alberta scientists, technologists and leaders in energy, climate, water, forests, wildlife, agriculture – and the intersection of each of those – Inside Education’s programs enhance school science classrooms by providing teachers with real-world insights into research and on-the-ground implementation of technology and innovations aimed at a sustainable future.

Inside Education fully supports Alberta educators by providing learning resources for classroom use, teacher professional development programs (aimed at enhancing teacher knowledge), direct program delivery to students in classrooms, labs and outdoor learning sites and enables youth leadership through its comprehensive environmental youth summit programs (for which this nomination is focused).
